Tour highlights the Russian River water supply system
(Santa Rosa, CA) – The Sonoma County Water Agency (Water Agency) will host its final public tour of 2015 this coming Saturday, Sept. 19, when members of the public can visit the Russian River water supply system. The tour is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about local water resources.
To register for the tour, go to www.sonomacountywater.ca.gov/tours and fill out the online registration form. Space is limited and reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
“These tours are a wonderful opportunity for people to gain a greater understanding of our water system and how our Sonoma County drinking water is derived from a unique, naturally filtered source,” said Water Agency Chair Susan Gorin. “If you’re interested in where your water comes from and how it gets to your tap, I encourage you to take advantage of our free tours.”
During this Saturday’s half-day tour of the Russian River water supply system, tour participants will visit facilities that divert, pump and treat the water delivered by the Water Agency to more than 600,000 residents in portions of Sonoma and Marin counties. These facilities will include the rubber dam, fish ladders, infiltration ponds and water collector 6 – one of the largest water collectors of its type in the world.
Tour Date: Saturday, September 19, 2015 — 9 a.m. to noon
